At MVHS all RSP students are mainstreamed into regular education classes. Education specialists, instructional assistants and general education teachers work as a team to support our students. If students need further assistance in their academic classes, they can take a study skills class one or both terms.
The Study Skills course aims to prepare students to be active participants in their high school careers. Class time will be used to provide designated support services, as delineated in their Individual Education Plans. In additions, study skills provides the opportunity to assist students with academic concepts as needed so they have a better understanding of their daily homework.
Throughout this course, students will receive individualized and/or small group support with school tasks, study skills, organization, self-awareness, and social/emotional skill development via a variety of course activities. Through active participation in the Study Skills course, students will begin to develop the habits and tools necessary for success in high school and beyond.
Together, and with the support of the entire MVHS staff, we aim to inspire each learner's unique strengths, help them cultivate a commitment to their educational program, and promote personal character development. We aim to teach our students to ultimately be their own advocates in school and in life.
